My Exit From an Industry

This past September I had the opportunity to film my best and unfortunately, last wedding gig. Just as many others my age, I decided a few years ago I wanted to take some risks and venture off into prospective business areas. Wedding Videography seemed like the natural choice as I already had the technical background and quite frankly, it seemed like a good way to meet people and build connections. And so the learning process started. I began by buying my first camera – The infamous Canon XL1. This recording beast had a history of use in...

One Step at a Time.

It’s incredibly easy to become overwhelmed with the depression and negative feelings that being unemployed and/or unmotivated can generate.  I imagine that there are people in far worse situations than myself.  Thankfully I am debt free but the majority of my friends are not which leads me to step back and reevaluate my position in life.  There’s the old saying: “Somewhere out there – somebody else has it worse than you”.  But what I find difficult is actually honing in on those words of wisdom.  Yes, there...

Jump Starting Your So Called “Career”

My oh my – what is there to say about finding a job these days other than what is already heard on a constant basis? More frequently than not, negative job prospects continue to be a hot topic and weaved within this subject are constant reminders that the global economy continues to dwindle into oblivion. To make matters worse, my local newspaper doesn’t seem to realize that releasing youth unemployment articles only reinforces the job prospector’s belief that external locust of control is the reason why so many of us are on...

AronDynamic Racing! – VIDEO

Hey all. This past week I had the opportunity to head down to the motor sports racetrack in Bowmanville Ontario to check out fast cars and hopefully some brutal car crashes (just kidding!).  My longtime friend had been attending these events for quite some time now and he asked if I could create a film spot for him.  I agreed with no hesitation and so began the task of producing a film spot that could shed the most amount of light on Aron.  Without further adieu, I present AronDynamic Racing!   AronDynamic Racing from Wayne Lau on...

Coasting Phuket Part 2 – VIDEO.

In this part of my Phuket trip, I travel to Maya bay where Danny Boyle’s The Beach was filmed. We rented a motorboat taxi for 1300 baht that took us around the island for about 3 hours. At times, I felt like the boat was going to capsize as the waves were quite rough at some points. When we arrived at the “paradise beach” the film suggested we became a bit disappointed as the entire location was commercialized for tourists – it simply felt like any other beach we had already been to. As a result, we just veered back...

Coasting Phuket Part 1 – VIDEO.

My long term relocation to Thailand is soon coming to a close so I thought why not do a bit more travelling while I still can.

Street Food – VIDEO.

If you ever visit Thailand, expect to eat street food at least once per day (if not 3 times per day as most foreigners and locals do).  Am I suggesting that you have no choice but to eat Street Food?  Absolutely not.  There is probably a street food vendor on every street corner in Thailand and as such, its impossible to dodge them.  I feel as though Thailand street cuisine faintly resembles local product scams and schemes that foreigners fall victim to everyday.  I’m not saying street vendors are trying to scam you by any means...

Mindless Ramblings.

Mindless Ramblings after 4 Months in Asia.   Right now I am entertaining a sleep cycle bender at the present moment.  For those that are clueless as to what this is, think back to a time when you endlessly woke up at 4:00PM and missed on an entire days worth of sunshine.  Right now I wake up at around 8:00PM and I do not fall asleep until 11:30AM the next day.  How did I come to this mode of behaviour you ask?  Simply put I have lost control over time, priorities and goals.   I am writing this blog for a handful of reasons.  The...

Putler – Manage your Paypal transactions efficiently

Do you use Paypal to sell online? Then you need Putler! Using PayPal as a payment processer to sell online can be both a godsend and a hassle. Its good because almost everyone in the world has a Paypal account and it is recognized as a trusted source for financial transactions. However the downside is to sellers, Paypal has an inefficient and slow admin area to analyze those transactions. Thas was, until Putler came around. Putler stands for “PayPal Butler”, and it’s a desktop software app that allows you to analyze your Paypal...

Flooded Part 2 – VIDEO

Hey everyone, I’ve had this video for awhile but haven’t had the opportunity to update it to my website until now.  Call it simply lazy – I’ve just been having too much fun these days.  I have some potential video work coming up in the future and I will use those gigs to occupy my remaining time in Thailand.  I’ve banned myself from nighttime entertainment venues for 2 weeks as a result of a proposition bet and I will use this time to fix my sleep schedule and generate some new video content for you guys....

Superb blog! Do you have any tips and hints for aspiring writers? I’m hoping to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you propose starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many choices out there that I’m totally confused .. Any tips? Thank you!

      Hi mineral,

Thank you for the kind words about the blog. I don’t have any formidable advice about blogging that can make a blog successful. Success is subjective to what the writer is looking to achieve. My tip would be to write about what you want and to take the opinions of others with a grain of salt. Just because somebody disagrees with you does not make them right or you wrong. So be creative with your blog and develop content that is unique to you. As for starting a blog, I highly recommend purchasing or downloading free themes for WordPress. It makes a big difference in terms of having an attractive blog to look at. I got mine at http://www.elegantthemes.com You pay around 40 bucks and you get access to dozens of awesomely customization themes. And mind you they are very easy to use as the user interface is already integrated into the back end of the website’s code. I hope this helps and thank you for visiting!
